Who will own the energy of the future—the state, corporations, or the citizens themselves?
In Europe, more and more local communities are choosing a “third way,” coming together in cooperatives for the joint production and management of energy. Ahead of the launch of the Green Policy School, experts will discuss the prospects of this model for Belarus.
This initiative by the “Green Belarus” Alliance aims to rethink the country’s energy security and environmental policy. Energy cooperatives allow people to be active market participants rather than just consumers, which promotes economic decentralization and the development of renewable energy sources.
The series of three webinars is designed to lay the foundation for training specialists capable of implementing such projects in the future.
The course speaker will be Artсiom Bystryk, an acclaimed expert in local energy and a member of the “Green Belarus” Alliance. Artсiom is a graduate of a unique “cooperative MBA” program at Collegium Civitas (Poland), which allows him to combine theoretical knowledge with a deep understanding of practical business processes in cooperative management.
Webinar Program: From Theory to Belarusian Realities
The educational cycle is divided into three strategic blocks designed to guide participants from understanding the basic concept to concrete project design:
- May 14: “What are energy cooperatives.” An introduction to the concept and an overview of its benefits for society and the environment.
- May 21: “How they work in Poland and the EU.” A case study of our neighbors’ successful projects and the specifics of European legislation.
- May 28: “What this could look like in Belarus.” An analysis of the possibilities for adapting the cooperative model to Belarusian conditions.
Note: The webinars will be held online. For those unable to attend the live broadcasts, recordings of the sessions will be published on our YouTube channel with subtitles.
How to Join?
The training is open to everyone interested; however, the organizers emphasize that the most active and successful webinar participants will receive an invitation to the core program of the Green Policy School.
